Beauty define in a Woman

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Christine Carreras,34, held a make-over event for women within their beauty called, “Skincare and Mineral Makeover” on Wednesday evening, at Holiday Inn Main Gate East.

Carreras is an Independent Sales Director, who been in business within Mary Kay for five years. She was a former Beauty Consultant, by reaching out to women and promoting the products of Mary Kay and how they made an impact on women lives today.

“Growing up in my teenager years, I had bad skin with acne and was embarrassed to be seen around in public,” said Carreras. “But I faced that challenge in my life by using skin-cared products from Mary Kay which had improved my skin and confidence within me.”

She introduced new products from their line and skin care products that benefits different women with skin problems or who wants to improve their look everyday. These products consist of a basic skin care product called “Time Wise 3-in-1 cleanser,” which leaves your skin feeling clean, fresh and radiant.

“My skin never felt this soft or look so refreshed,” said Denise Powell. “I’ve been using different products to help me within my skin, but none of them made my skin feel like this before.”

Carreras was eager and happy that she makes a difference in women’s lives everyday with Mary Kay skin care products. She host a skin care event every month with new items, which comes out every season, make-up tips, fragrances, and even products for the men. Mary Kay is a well known beauty product from all over the world. These products are made for women in different backgrounds, heritage, and skin.

“I’ve been using Mary Kay for the passed 3 years now and enjoy everything they have offer to me as a customer,” said Dinah Hernandez. “The products I use from Mary Kay are face powder, lip gloss, black eyeliner, red blush, and different colors of eye shadow for my eyes.”

Cheryl Miller, a Beauty Consultant from Macy’s (in the Florida Mall) said, “Make-up helps bring out the inner beauty within a woman.” “You’ll be surprise on how I’ve made an impact on a woman’s life with a few suggestions or ideas on using these products for their skin.”

“They see a big difference in their skin as well as their confidence inside of them, said Carreras”.

A new President of Student Government Association

Orlando, Fla. - Robert Stio, 35, have been opponent as the president of Student Government Association at Valencia Community College West Campus. He will be in office, serving his term from March 2009 through March 2010. He comes into this organization with a background in film and television industry, which he intends to use his professional experience to bring The Student Government Association to a new level.

With his background experience of entertainment, he is initiating the future of mass media to raise the awareness of Student Government Association to the students through the use of Internet, Face book, Twitter, The Valencia Voice, and Student Government Association website; which is coming out soon. The association will post weekly updates with information base on current events, up-coming events, and discussion base from the SGA meetings.

The meetings will be held every Wednesday of the month beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The locations of the meetings are Building 6: Room 202 or HS Building: Room 211. The first meeting will be held in September. In these meetings, he is allowing student to come, so they can express their concerns, ideas, and gestures directly to the SGA.

One of Robert main concern on this campus is student body. “To get students involved with SGA is by word of mouth,” said Stio. He came up with few initiatives for working with students; programs as student awareness, shadow, support group, and many learning functions. “I want to raise the awareness in student body,” said he. “This is letting students know they are very important.”

The shadow program consists of students from bridges to come out and learn about the student government and might have interested in running for office in the next term. He even included a support group for the students, interaction with peer educators, and teaching professional atmosphere.

With all the current events in store, the SGA have a current budget of $38,000. With that in mind, this budget covers some events as a Welcome Back BBQ, Debate Event, Talent Tuesday, Movie Night, and etc. There will be more events and ideas coming soon.

There will be a swearing in ceremony event for Robert Stio on June 30, 2009, informing his recognition as the new president of Student Government Association with a positive attitude. He is excited, dedicated, and a diligent person, with a passion for students and the student body here at Valencia Community College. Robert is ready to face challenges, but is eager to make a difference in a student’s life as well his or her education.

A Sophisticated Bride

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Gaylord Palms Resort held their 1st Annual Bridal Convention on May 31st, 2009, for “Soon to be Brides”. Brides from all over Central Florida eagerly attended this event in hopes of improving their wedding day and the chaos behind it.

Jayde from XL 106.7 was the host of the show. She presented information based on the vendors, performers, and the fashion show. “It’s like you can plan your wedding in one day,” Jayde said.

With all the wedding vendors’ insight, Jayde favorite was the photo booth called “Shutter Booth”. Shutter Booth is an elegant photo booth design for fun memories, custom logo and text. “That was a unique wedding idea they came up with,” said Jayde.

Karry Castillo, an event planner that was present, explains the importance of brides having an “Event Coordinator” for their wedding regardless of the wedding size. “Start as early as possible planning your wedding day with the best professional in this field,” said Castillo.

Brittney Wells, a soon to be bride in August 2009, said, “I was stress out in the beginning of planning my wedding, but now, this event helped me to become more organized, calmed, and less-stressed with my wedding ideas,” said Wells.

Not only women came for wedding ideas, but for entertainment, grand prize drawing, and a fashion show. “I had a great time at this convention; especially, with performers called “Sophisticated Gents Entertainment,” said Sarah Jones. The Grand Prize Drawing is a 4 day 3 night trip for 2 at the Bimini Bay Resort.

The Fashion Showcase presented bridal gowns and bridesmaid’s dresses from “Solutions Bridal Designer House”. “My favorite bridal gowns was number 37, 14, and the blue bridesmaid dress," said Audie White.

“This show been in progress for a year and a half,” said Fredrick Smith. (Coordinator & performer) “I’ve came from the hood with not much of any thing, but I had supporting parents who provided for me in my upcoming,” said he.

"I’m truly blessed to see these beautiful brides and the joy they feel coming out to this event,” said Smith. This is what makes a “Sophisticated Bridal Show” better each time.
